General Info
This is our Welcome Banquet! Exec wakes up early and cooks a dinner for ATS. We welcome in the new freshmen and welcome back the upperclassmen. It's a pretty festive time. :)
- ~110 attendees + exec - was at capacity (and then some tbh...)
- Freshmen Reps: Cynthia Lo and Alicia Lai
How to get MacG dining:
- Email Bob Ramsay to reserve. He's bad at emails, so go talk to him too (office is behind MacG student desk). He can also get you all the spare chairs.
- Talk to student guest to reserve.
- Talk to hired desk.
How to get people into MacG dining:
- Talk to hired desk beforehand about leaving side door open during prep.
- EVERYONE checks in to hired desk before coming in. After that they can come and go (confirm with hired desk first).
- Guests check in to hired desk, then go through route to MacCon. Side door shouldn't be used after prep.
Try to get people to go through the line in waves...we had a free-for-all and the line snaked the length of the dining hall twice :( ALSO we amusingly printed different start times on the tickets and the email, so we had two waves of people. That actually worked really well so would recommend doing it again LOLOLOL.
Decorations
Landon was in charge of decorations and set-up.
Entrance Notes
There is generally disagreement on prices among the past wiki pages. This is what we did this year (and last year):
- FREE for all freshmen, and members
- $5 for membership
- $7 for non-members
Set Up
Set up started about 2 hours early, and completed just barely in time. Schedule AT LEAST 2 hours with ~4-5 people helping out.
MAKE SURE YOU SECURE ENOUGH CHAIRS. ESTIMATE ATTENDANCE FROM GBM + TICKET SALES.
MacGregor Dining has 4 long tables and 8 circle tables, plus a small square table. It has a raised stage at the front. We brought an additional 5 rectangular folding tables from Next. We used every chair in the dining room (~60), plus all of the chairs in the game room (~10), plus all of the extra chairs (~40). Extra chairs were located in the Machine Room/storage closet on the right side in the passage to New House. A folding table + pastry sales banner was set up outside for ticket sales/entrance/signup/etc.
- We put circular tables in front, near the stage. ~8-10 chairs/table.
- We put rectangular tables in back, perpindicular to stage - 2 deep, 3 wide. 8 chairs per MacG table, 6 per Next table.
- We put two long tables on the stage for serving, plus a square table to the side for drinks.
- The back corner was really sad because the lights were broken AND the outlets were broken, so the lamps we brought from Next 3W didn't work :/ Hopefully this gets fixed but if not bring some really really long extension cords.
- The serving tables had cardboard under the leakier dishes to help contain messes.
Decorations
- Red tablecloths on the circle tables (they had to be cut in half and layered to fit).
- White tablecloths on the Next folding tables.
- Wooden MacG rectangular tables were left uncovered.
- Tea lights were placed at each table, with tea light cover (see Google Drive). Printed on paperjam. ( https://www.facebook.com/mit.ats/photos/a.338662306303071.1073741850.116850108484293/338662779636357/?type=3&theater )
- LANTERNS! Hung them from the pipes on the ceiling of MacGregor.
- Taiwan flag hung behind serving table.
